Late Mesozoic/Cenozoic sedimentary basins and hydrocarbon prospects in East Siberian and Chukchi Seas

Both the shelf and the continental slope of East Arctic seas reveal presence of rift and sin-displacement sedimentary basins of Mesozoic/Cenozoic age. Judging from other tectonic structures in passive continental margins, the author assumes their hydrocarbon potential is conlined to passive slopes ol inter-graben uplifts, structural commissures, and fan complexes ol continental slopes and associated loot structures. Most probably, hydrocarbon potential of these areas is built, in addition to existing sedimentary rocks, around riltogeneous sediments in the basement.
