THE PASSION OF SIR THOMAS TRESHAM: NEW LIGHT ON THE GARDENS AND LODGE AT LYVEDEN

Lyveden New Bield in Northamptonshire was laid out by Sir Thomas Tresham between 1594 and 1605 and is one of the most important gardens of its period in Britain. This paper draws on new research to provide hitherto unknown details of the gardens' creation and their planting and relates the gardens more particularly to the recusancy of their creator.
