Acute emphysematous gastritis is a potentially fatal pathology characterized by an invasion of the stomach wall by gas-forming bacteria.1-2 We describe here, we believe for the first time, a case of emphysematous gastritis caused by Sarcina ventriculi, an obligate anaerobic bacterium.
