Visiting eighteen gardens in six and a half days is ambitious, but this tour, based in Dumfries and Stranraer and hosted by Kristina Taylor with input from Melissa Simpson and Christopher Dingwall, was well planned, incorporating gardens of the past,present and future, providing a variety of historical landscape and garden design, botanical and horticultural diversity. Good soils and the mild oceanic climate enables plants from all over the world, including rhododendrons, azaleas and numerous Champion trees, to flourish in this area.
