Caldwell Tower by Uplawmoor; not so much Camelot, but rather...

Caldwell Tower in East Renfrewshire was recently featured in a television series about the restoration of a number of small historic buildings. The particular programme repeated the owner's belief that his tower was built in the 15th century and was the last standing portion of a large mediaeval castle which stood by Uplawmoor on the hillside above Loch Libo. Artistic licence and a considerable amount of imagination was used to produce an image of a Renfrewshire Camelot. A different picture has emerged from research undertaken over the past two years by an East Renfrewshire Historic Designed Landscape Group supported by the Garden History Society in Scotland.The group has been studying and surveying a number of sites in the area including the designed landscapes associated with Caldwell House.
