Adenomyoma of the minor duodenal papilla.

Adenomyoma of the biliary tract most often occurs in the gallbladder. Adenomyoma of the major duodenal papilla is rare. For example, it was found in only 0.13% of 3131 consecutive patients who underwent ERCP. To our knowledge, no case of adenomyoma of the minor papilla has been reported. Tumors of the minor papilla are infrequent, and most are endocrine in nature, as, for example, carcinoid tumor and somatostatinoma. Only a single case of primary adenocarcinoma of the minor papilla is reported. Herein, we report the first documentedcase of adenomyoma of the minor duodenal papilla. The tumor mimicked a type 0-IIa + IIc carcinoma, underscoring the importance of including adenomyoma in the differential diagnosis of tumors of the minor papilla.
