Improved feathering on one-year-old 'Germersdorfi FL 45' sweet cherry trees in the nursery.

The effects of 6-BA (6-benzyladenine, in water soluble formulation, Paturyl 10 WSC) and/or GA4+7 on lateral branching of 1-year-old sweet cherry cv. Germersdorfi FL 45 trees, growing in a nursery in Hungary, were investigated. 6-BA (0.06%) was applied 3 times alone or in combination with 2 applications of GA4+7. Growth and the number and length of laterals were measured at the end of the growing season. 6-BA significantly increased the total number of laterals in comparison with the untreated control. Additional treatment with GA4+7 did not affect the total number of laterals, but increased the length of lateral shoots.
