Vanity burns: An unusual case of chemical burn caused by nail glue

Nail glue is a commercially available product for attaching a false nail onto a natural nail. There are multiple compounds within the nail glue product, but it principally consists of a varying mixture of alcohol, cyanoacrylate or photo-bonded methacrylate. Cyanoacry-late is a family of organic compounds that have been used in a few surgical procedures . However, commercial cyanoacrylate has different side-chains that are responsible for its unique chemical reaction and bonding. There are a few case reports that revealed its potential harm to other non-epithelial surfaces . We report the first documented incident of an unusual full-thickness chemical burn caused by skin contact with the commercial nail glue.
