Excelsior Energy Wins Loan Extension for IGCC Project; PPA Still Lacking

Minnesota's Iron Range Resources Board (IRRB) on August 16 approved extension of a US$9.45 million loan to Excelsior Energy in connection with a proposed 606-megaWatt integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) project. The so-called Mesaba Energy IGCC project, which has struggled in recent years to line-up customers for a power purchase agreement (PPA), would (if built) include the Cono-coPhillips "E-gas" gasification technology.
