Shell Touts ‘Pearl’ GTL Plant as ‘Main Driver’ Behind Surging Cash Flow

Royal Dutch Shell’s new CEO Ben van Beurden on January 30 praised Shell’s massive, 170,000 barrel-per-day “Pearl” gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Qatar – which cost more than US$19 billion – for being a “main driver” behind Shell’s surging cash flow. “Innovative, large-scale projects such as Pearl gas-toliquids have been the main drivers behind Shell’s recent increase in cash flow, which reached over $87 billion in 2012-13 combined, an increase of 35% on 2010-11,” according to the company, citing van Buerden.
