MHI Reportedly Inks Deal for Two 500-MW Tepco IGCC Plants in Japan

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) reportedly won contracts to build two integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plants for Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Tepco) in Japan. According to several news-wire reports, each plant would have output capacity of 500 megawatts (MW). Both would be built in Fukushima Prefecture, site of Tepco’s nuclear power plant wrecked by an earthquake and tsunami two years ago, according to reports.
