Incorporated under Ohio law on September 17, 1945, the National Welding Supply Association was launched at the Van Cleve Hotel in Dayton, Ohio, on November 13. 1945. Now known as GAWDA, the organization celebrates its 60th anniversary September 20-23 at the grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in Wailea. Maui, Hawaii. Founded to provide cooperation and support, GAWDA now extends outside the welding industry through the GAWDA Gives Back program. Welding distributors have roots in the war that introduced many industries to welding processes. That is why the selection of the Hawaii Chapter of the Armed Sendees YMCA (ASYMCA) as the GAWDA Gives Back recipient is so signifi-cany - because Hawaii is where World War II started for the United States.
