OSHA updates national standards incorporation

Last fall, the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to begin updating OSHA standards based on national consensus standards, including those promulgated by CGA. In 2002, CGA petitioned OSHA to update the references to CGA standards in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 29 CFR para.1910, since some of them are more than 30 yr out-of-date. The petition requested that the CFR reference the current edition of CGA standards and delete those no longer in print or adopted by other organizations. In response to last fall's OSHA Notice, CGA updated its references to standards made since 2002 and re-filed the petition in December 2004.
