European Parliament: Set 2030 Renewable Energy Target to More Than 30%

The European Parliament on May 21 voted 339-336 to approve legislation calling for regulations requiring a share of renewable energy greater than 30% in the EU by 2030. According to the official EuroParl news service, members of the European Parliament (MEPs) “suggest that the EU should try to achieve a share of renewables in the overall energy mix even greater than the European Commission’s current working assumption of 30%.”
