Vancouver, British Columbia-based fuel-cell producer Ballard Power announced June 5 at its annual general meeting that fuel-cell power systems are now providing crucial backup electric-power service at more than 2,000 sites world-wide. According to Ballard, the principal driver behind growing demand for fuel-cell backup power “emanates from geographical markets where the electricity grid is unreliable, including parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
