NRDC, Sierra Club Study Claims SNG Plants Way Too Expensive

A new study sponsored by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Sierra Club finds that three proposed coal gasification plants in Illinois would cause excessive rate increases for state consumers of natural gas and electricity. The study, titled On the Hook, bases its conclusion upon the assumption that today’s historically cheap U.S. natural gas prices would continue for decades to come – a contention challenged by other recent studies.
