Covanta Energy Unveils First Commercial Gasification-WTE System

Covanta Energy on April 24 unveiled its first commercial-scale gasification-waste-to-energy (WTE) system, initiallyaiming to compete for smaller-scale WTE markets with amodular, 300 ton-per-day (t/d) “CleerGas” system.Covanta vice president for business development SteveWeber told Gasification News in an interview that the companyhas been developing the system in-house for about five years.Development work at a Covanta WTE plant in Tulsa,Okla., led to the new 300-t/d commercial-scale system.
