Explosive testing of personal protective equipment in a laboratory accident scenario

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is one of the final lines of defence in the safety management hierarchy. In an explosives laboratory where new explosives are being prepared at the small (i.e. gram) scale using hands-on techniques, PPE selection is of critical importance. It is vital that the chosen PPE provides suitable and sufficient protection against personal injury should an unintended explosion occur.
