Captive-bred chameleons are becoming more prevalent in the reptile pet market, but wild-caught chameleons are still being imported to establish new bloodlines and create colorful morphs. Chameleons that survive the importation process are usually dehydrated and immunologically/ psychologically stressed and may have high parasitic burdens.
