A Time Profile of Millisecond Pulsations of Solar Microwave Radio Bursts

An hypothesis on the interference origin of millisecond pulsations of solar-burst microwave radioemissions based on the fact that the signal scintillation appears as a result of radio-wave propagation throughan inhomogeneous turbulent corona is considered. It is shown that the time profile of pulsations depends on thephase difference of interfering waves and can either look like pulses of "emission" and "absorption" or it canhave a sawtooth form with slow buildup and fast drop. The observed properties of pulsations were comparedwith predictions of this model; this comparison showed that the formation of pulsations and their observedproperties are satisfactorily explained by multipath propagation, which takes place at traversal of the coronalplasma by radio waves.
