Waterborne paint has quickly become the new option in paints and sealants that limit the amount of harmful chemicals released into the environment. The water-based solvent is a healthier alternative to oil-based solvent vapors in paints and sealants. California currently leads the pack but this new paint option is spreading across North American collision shops. Waterborne paints have many added benefits but also require new machinery and training that will force collision centers to alter their work habits. As organizations continue to approve waterborne paint systems, operators across the country will have more eco-friendly options for their paint and finishing operations.
