Spring Industry expects moderately successful 2006

Despite generally flat first-quarter results and increasing costs for raw materials and energy, the spring industry continues to feel good about itself after results of the initial 90-day period are tabulated for the Spring Manufacturers Institute quarterly Key Business Trends survey. "There's very little fluctuation in sales results from the fourth quarter of 2005 and the first quarter of 2006," explains Ken Boyce, SMI Executive Vice President. "Consider the rising cost of energy and raw materials, and the results don't look too bad at all."
