Letter to the editor re: 'Carotid stenting through the right brachial approach for left internal carotid artery stenosis and bovine aortic arch configuration'.

We read with great interest "Carotid stenting through the right brachial approach for left internal carotid artery stenosis and bovine aortic arch configuration" by Montorsi et al [1]. The authors describe their experience placing internal carotid artery stents in 14 patients with a common origin of the left common carotid and innominate arteries, commonly referred to as a bovine aortic arch. In 13 of these patients, stenting was successfully accomplished through the nontraditional brachial artery approach. In one patient, stenting through the brachial approach was unsuccessful but was achieved through the femoral approach. This patient was noted to have the narrowest angle between the origin of the left common carotid and innominate arteries.
