Limiting currents of electron and ion beams in a stationary plane bipolar diode with an unlimited emission of charged particles from both electrodes are determined. Simple analytical relationships are derived for the ultimate cases of the nonrelativistic and ultra-relativistic energies of the electron beam. The possibilities of the experimental realization of this diode and its applications are discussed.
