Lower demand in Asia Pacific leads to lower pigment sales at Huntsman

US Huntsman says volume sales of its pigments were 16% lower in the first three months of this year compared to a year ago primarily due to lower global demand and continued customer destocking, particularly in the Asia Pacific region. Despite this, three month adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) were up 69% to $147 million due to higher sales and higher contribution margins. Revenue from pigment sales rose 16% in the three months to 31 March to $426 million compared to $364 million last time.
