A sensitive arid specific liquid chromatography method for the determination of malachite green and its metabolite, leucomalachite, in rainbow trout muscle samples is described. Prepared for routine purposes, the method includes solid phase extractionfor clean-up of biological samples. The whole procedure was validated. The limit of the detection was established at the level of 5 ng/g in muscle samples and the recoveries were over 80%.
