Evonik Industries is to sell its carbon black business to private equity firm Rhone Capital for over ?900 million, including the assumption of certain obligations. The business had sales revenues of around ?1.2 billion in 2010 and employs approximately 1,650 people, about 500 of whom are based in Germany. The deal is expected to close tliis summer, subject to the approval of Evonik's supervisory board and antitrust authorities.
