GERMANY Lanxess is taking further steps to streamline its global production network in a bid to reduce operating costs. The German-based speciality chemicals group has sold its 55% stake in a Chinese hydrazine hydrate joint venture to its Chinese partner Weifang Yaxing Group for an undisclosed sum. Lanxess will continue to produce hydrazine hydrate at its plant in Leverkusen, Germany. In another move, the company is to gain $10 million for the sale of infrastructure and supporting services at its site in Bushy Park, South Carolina, US, where it makes rubber chemicals. Investment company, Cooper River Partners, which has acquired the assets, will lease them back to Lanxess. Recendy Lanxess said its Functional Chemicals business unit will transfer the production of colorants from Lerma in Mexico to the Leverkusen site.
