BASF stakes claim in Russia's growing automotive market with own paint manufacturing plant

GERMANY BASF Coatings Has moved to secure its share of Russia's burgeoning automotive market as it becomes the first international paint company to build its own production facility in Russia.Built at Pavlovskij Posad,60km east of Moscow,the modern automotive coatings plant has an annual capacity for basecoats and clearcoats of 6,000 tonnes that can be expanded to over 20,000 tonnes at any time.A ceremony attended by Moscow's minister for industry,Vladimir Kozyrev,marked the plant's official opening this summer.
