RPM sales and income rise steeply in third quarter

US Speciality coatings manufacturer RPM International reported record fiscal third-quarter income and sales. Net income for the 2008 third quarter increased nearly 21% to 12 million, compared to 10 million a year ago. Consolidated earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached 25.1 million, 11.4% over the 22.5 million reported a year ago. Sales were ahead by 7.7% to 731.8 million from 679.5 million in the third quarter of 2007, with organic sales growth accounting for 7.1% of the increase and 3.2% representing net foreign exchange gains.
