Fusion in craniocervical malformation.

摘要

Several new techniques for the craniocervical fusion have been developed in the last decade which make this surgery more predictable and standardized, not only for the surgical procedure but also for the postoperative treatment.Several pathologies may make such a surgery necessary: malformations at the craniocervical junction, post-traumatic and congenital deformities, infections like tuberculosis (mostly in developing countries), tumours and rheumatoid arthritis, to mention the most frequent ones.
