What has been impressive about the European Spine Journal this year is the large number of high quality papers from the Middle and Far East and India and Japan. The Editors have wisely felt that the title of the Journal should not limit its content, it is truly international.The Spanish and Italian supplements, allow those of us whose language is English alone, to appreciate the great contribution those countries make to our speciality. The educative value of the supplement on sagittal balance was immense, as it is clear that an understanding of this is vital in trauma, disc arthroplasty, spinal fusion, and the management of deformity.
