Statoil has been given the go-ahead by Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the Ocean Vanguard to drill a pilot hole on the Johan Sverdrup field offshore Norway. Johan Sverdrup is in the Norwegian North Sea around 36km south of the Grane field and 56km northeast of the Sleipner field. Water depth at the 16/2-U-7 well site is approximately 115m (377ft). Drilling is planned to start this month and is expected to last for seven days.
