Injection moulder Wilden has started to use 3D X-ray computer tomography to test moulded parts.The non-destructive analysis technique allows the company to view internal objects and to determine dimensions and imperfections.These include wall thickness variations and voids that are not normally visible to the human eye or detectable by conventional optical processes.It can also be used to determine the distribution of glass fibres in reinforced plastics.
