The Society of Plastics Engineers Central Europe presented finalists and winners at its 15th biannual automotive innovation awards night just before K 2013, on 15 October in Neuss near Diisseldorf. The grand innovation award and first place in the power train category went to the frontend module carrier produced at Mercedes-Benz in Hamburg for the B-Class car with a new internal high-pressure forming (IHF) polymer/metal hybrid process, also used for the SL car [European Plastics News July/August 2013).
