TECHNOLOGY Arburg presented a number of new technologies and machines at K 2013, including a new large electric Allrounder. The 820A Alldrive 400-tonne machine comes with a size 2100 injection unit that means Arburg now offers an electric drive machine with shot weight increased to 1,286g of polystyrene. The new machine demon- strated its prowess at the show by moulding a set of 48 teaspoons with 4.5s cycle time. Technical managing director Herbert Kraibuhler said that in this demonstration, the electric machine was 38% faster and used 44% less energy than a standard hydraulic machine.
