Asahi Kasei Plastics has developed a new Thermylene P8 grade of polypropylene with various levels of glass fibre reinforcement for applications such as door modules. The new compound uses chemically-grafted coupling additives to achieve enhanced interfacial adhesion between the glass fibres and the polymer matrix. This improves load induced stress transfer, so increases the load bearing capability of moulded parts, claims the company.
