New materials bridge the divide

French R&D centre Innobat in Montpellier and Italian pul-trusion processor Topglass won the bio-based materials category in the JEC 2011 composites innovation awards in March. They won the award for developing, as part of a Biobat project, a Biopox 65 pultruded hollow window frame and solid flat profiles made out of 65% continuous flax fibre reinforced bio-based epoxide (EP) resin. The pultruded profiles have 75% bio-based content.
