We appreciate the editorial by Murphy [1 ], and we share some of his opinions, although we strongly feel that the image presented of a surgeon-gladiator is a misleading metaphor that creates the wrong perception. Any surgical procedure is a serious matter, well regulated by the surgeon's and the hospital's credentials and based on the informed consent of the patient. A live surgery event (LSE) is an even more serious matter that demands specific skills and specific informed consent, far removed from the concept of "blood and sand."
