Expert's summary: Three urologists from Naples, Italy, discovered a surprisingly high percentage of short frenulum (43%) in about 140 subjects who came to their private center complaining of lifelong premature ejaculation (PE). They decided to perform a frenulectomy, and they found an excellent increase in mean intra-vaginal ejaculatory latency time of 2.46 min. The authors conclude in favor of a physical examination to demonstrate the presence of a short frenulum in all patients complaining of PE, and they propose frenulectomy as the first-line treatment in these cases.
