The authors analyzed the value of a serum bone formation marker (amino-terminal procollagen pro- peptide of type I collagen [PINP]) and a bone resorp-tion marker (pyridinoline cross-linked carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen [ICTP]) for the early detection of skeletal metastases in patients with prostate cancer. Sixty-four patients with his-tologically confirmed prostate cancer, including 19 cases with skeletal metastases (Ml), 14 cases with lymph node metastases (N1M0), and 31 cases NOMO, represented the population. Androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) was performed in 19%, 57%, and 53% of cases, respectively, in the three groups.
