Field Notes The Getty Villa, Los Angeles

Thanks to Janet Holmes, SCPS member and docent at the Getty Center, we took a break from collecting for our June field trip, and instead paid a visit to the Getty Villa. Located in Pacific Palisades, the Villa houses the Getty Center's world-renowned antiquities collection. The museum itself is a former residence of J. Paul Getty, and is is a re-creation of the Villa dei Papiri, a first-century Roman country house found at Ercolano, near Pompeii, in Southern Italy.
