The Swainsons have farmed at How End Farm, Thursby, south west of Carlisle, for 7S years, and John Swainson is committed to developing a sustainable system which means they can continue to do so.His grandfather moved to the 127-acre tenanted farm in 1942, buying land in the 1960s. Since then the farm has expanded to 430 acres with a mix of owned and tenanted land.
