An epichlorohydrin monomer derived from palm and other vegetable oils is being used in production trials of Hydrin elastomers by Zeon Chemicals L.P. at its Hattiesburg, Missouri manufacturing facility. Apart from automotive hoses, air ducts, vibration dampers and diaphragms, the company cites laser printer rolls as a potential application. Zeon claims a "unique" balance of resistance to high temperature and permeation by fuels and other aggressive media.
