The Rubber Research Institute of India in Kottayam,Kerala is also working on nanosilicate materials in colloidal materials.At the Hamburg latex meeting,Siby Varghese of the RRII describeexperiments with NR latex,PU dispersions ana mix of the two,using a pristine layeresilicate (sodium fluorohectorite)at 10 parts phr in latex.Nanosilicate reinforcement can produce a material which has air permeability 50 times lower than that of butyl rubber-a material widely usefor its low air permeability,saiVarghese.
