Machinery industry feels currency movements

Traditionally, US-based machinery makers have looked at their vivals i Germany and other parts of Europe with something approaching pity-based on the high cost of employing people, the diffiulty of restructuring the workfore, and strong, prolabour legislation. Today, however, the strength of the dollar has switched the balance in favour of European companies, who can now offer a 30 percent discount, and still make money. The effects of this change have forced US-based companies to review their approach to the business.
