REACH to compound problems for EU rubber industry

By 31 May 2018, all substances manufactured or imported into the EU at volumes of 1-100 tonnes per year will have to be registered under the next phase of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals). With the deadline now on the horizon, there is growing concern among small and medium sized companies (SMEs) in the rubber industry about the costs and complexity of registration. They could also lose business to larger competitors with far greater experience of REACH and resources to meet the requirements.
