While the driver's verdict is still very much out on runflats, the level of development work going on in the background suggests that a significant - if grudging - increase in market acceptance might just be around the comer, Runflats can allow cars to run safely on a puncture for over 60km. However, despite the safety, convenience and fuel-savings through the elimination of a heavy spare tire, they still generate negative reactions from many in the automotive and tire supply trade as well as their customers.
