Akron, Ohio - In the face of a weak economy, especially in Europe, and unfavorable currency translation, most tyre makers were able to boost their earnings by double digits due to such factors as lower raw materials costs, an increase in (ultra-high uhp tyre sales and a growing market in Russia. However, several tyre makers foresee slower growth in the second half. Goodyear said it expects its full-year tyre unit volume for 2012 will be 5 to 7 percent below 2011.
