GE Toshiba Silicones and Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd, both based in Tokyo, are investing to increase their already strong position in the Asia Pacific silicones market. GE Toshiba-a joint venture between General Electric and Toshiba Corp-is to invest US50 million to establish a silicones finishing plant near Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The 45-kilotonnes-per-annum facility will manufacture silicone fluids and rubber, the company said 1 Nov.
